Used on the IV/IV-P, this component retains the down-lock assembly inside the housing of the GM471 main gear actuators.  This is an improved design, similar to Lancair part number FM-471-06 which is no longer available, but further improved with better materials.

This design prevents the most common issue with these actuators where the cap flexes due to load causing the snap ring to come loose.   This design is made of hardened zinc nickel plated steel which virtually eliminates all flex in the cap (the Lancair versions were aluminum).  The design also retains the snap ring so that it cannot easily slip out of the groove.
