These brackets replace the original GM27 drag brace bracket on Lancair 235 and 320/360 model nose gears.

The 235 is different from the 320/360 bracket, the 235 gear tunnel is skinnier.  Be sure to order the proper bracket for your airframe!

P/N 700-0084 fits 320/360

Because there is so much variation in the airframes these parts do not come with a shaft.  McMaster part number 9095K105 has been used by some others to fabricate this shaft.

These Brackets have a few improvements from the originals from Lancair:

• Both Brackets are Zinc-Nickel plated which improves their corrosion resistance and hardness.
• The originals from Lancair were welded and assembled together in many different ways, some better then others.  These new parts have been welded to replicate one of the better configurations and welding methods.
• The bushings are slightly different from the originals from Lancair.  Lancair built these using custom made bushings.  These new brackets use a custom sleeve but industry standard bushings.  The bushings are also longer, approx 25% which improves the bracket to shaft bearing area.

The 235 bracket, 700-0085, differs more significantly from the original from Lancair.  The originals were made of a small tube with no bushing and no gussets.  These have been proven to bend quite easily.  The new bracket uses the 320/360 gussets, tube diameter, and bushings to strengthen the bracket.  With this design change comes the following considerations on the 235 models (only):

1. The strut will come much closer to the tube on GM27, care must be taken to ensure the gear door still fits.  Modification of the door bulge may be required, a worthwhile compromise considering how weak the original design was.
2. GM26 may need to be trimmed to fit with the larger diameter tube, the new O’Day Design GM26 (700-0086) is designed to fit w/o modification.
